Privacy at Everyday Explained

Updated November 1, 2026

Everyday Explained was previously presented as Knight Club. Public pages now focus on articles. Chess gameplay is restricted to manually approved Premium members; the extension launch is postponed. Existing account and browser data has not been deleted.

Premium and previous guest play

Your appearance preferences, practice rating, puzzle progress (including the expanded puzzle practice rating), saved guest games, review notes and analysis are stored in this browser. Clearing site data removes that local information. Stockfish evaluates positions on your device.

Accounts and saved games

Signing in uses Supabase authentication. Google sign-in supplies your basic profile and email address; email sign-in sends you a secure link. Account games and rating results are stored in the project’s Supabase database so they can be retrieved on another device. Review notes and analysis markings currently stay in the browser where you saved them.

Retired phone feature

Find My Phone has been removed from this website. Previously stored device information is not automatically deleted by this update. Contact us below for help with existing data.

Optional article notifications

Notifications start only when you select Allow notifications and grant browser permission. We store a browser push endpoint, encryption keys, subscription dates and delivery records in Supabase. These identify a browser subscription; no email or account is required. Your browser provider delivers encrypted messages. We send selected new articles, at most one alert in 24 hours. Turn notifications off using the button on an article page, or revoke permission in browser settings. Turning them off here deletes the saved subscription and its delivery records. Expired subscriptions are removed when delivery reports they are no longer valid. Notifications do not enable analytics or advertising consent.

Service providers

Vercel hosts the website. Supabase provides authentication and the database. Google handles Google sign-in, and Gmail SMTP sends account emails. These services process the information needed to provide those functions and may keep operational logs such as IP addresses and request details under their own policies.

Website traffic analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated visits, popular pages, referral sources, approximate location and browser/device types, without third-party cookies. We remove query strings and URL fragments from tracked page URLs. We do not send account names, emails or game contents as custom analytics events. See Vercel analytics privacy information.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is enabled only after you choose Allow analytics. It uses analytics cookies to measure public article page views and sends Google the page path, page title and technical information such as browser details and IP address. We strip URL query strings and fragments, do not send referrers, account details or game contents, and do not enable advertising personalization or automatic form tracking. Login and private member pages are excluded. Use Analytics choices at the bottom of a public page to decline or withdraw permission. Declining does not block reading. See how Google uses information from websites.

Extension downloads and advertising

The extension launch is postponed and public downloads are unavailable. Previously distributed copies analyze positions locally and request access to supported chess websites to read boards and notation and provide enabled controls. Their source and licenses were included in the package. Analysis stays in memory unless exported.

The website is being connected to Google AdSense. Advertising remains disabled until activation and consent configuration are complete. When enabled on content pages, Google and its partners may use cookies, IP addresses and device information to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. Where required, a consent message will let you choose whether to allow advertising storage and personalization. See Google’s advertising information and My Ad Center for additional controls. The extension download is currently unavailable on the public site.

Optional cricket scoreboard

Some sports articles offer a Crictimes scoreboard. It loads only when you select Load live scores. The external provider receives your IP address and browser details and may use storage under its own privacy policy. Scores and coverage are supplied by that provider, not independently maintained by Everyday Explained. You can instead follow the official ICC score link without loading the embedded scoreboard.

Choices and contact

Public articles do not require sign-in. Premium chess requires a verified account and an administrator-granted membership. Membership checks use your verified email and a short-lived, HttpOnly session cookie. You can sign out or clear locally stored site data using your browser settings. For questions or requests concerning your account data, contact spidermanpikaop@gmail.com.
