What is actually verified?
GTA VI discussion mixes official announcements, developer interviews, video analysis and theories. We reviewed the captions of three videos about the economy, police AI and the opening location, then checked their key claims against Rockstar’s pages and published reporting. The results are below. Rockstar currently lists November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The images on this page are authentic items in its official media library; they are not newly leaked footage. This is a source check as of November 5, not a hands-on review.
| Claim | Evidence status | What the source supports |
|---|---|---|
| Story progression sometimes requires earning money | Reported developer statement | GamesRadar reports Rob Nelson’s IGN interview. This supports the broad design point, not every number in the economy video. Check source |
| $20,000 cash limit and losing carried cash | Video claim; not independently confirmed here | Economy video, 5:15–6:07. Do not treat its exact limit as a verified specification. Check source |
| Identification clues, trackers and six-star pursuit | Video analysis; full rules unverified here | Police video, 0:52–1:47 and 7:22–7:51. Its strongest AI ranking is the creator’s assessment, not a benchmark. Check source |
| Lucia has a Liberty City connection | Official character background | Rockstar’s biography mentions Lucia and her mother’s days in Liberty City. Check source |
| GTA VI opens in a playable Liberty City | Theory, not confirmed by the checked sources | Opening-location video, 7:19 onward, proposes a possible opening. Background references do not establish a playable location. Check source |
Money: a supported design point is not a verified cash limit
The economy video says earning money will play a larger role in progression. GamesRadar’s coverage of Rob Nelson’s IGN interview supports that broad point: some parts of the story require players to earn money before advancing, with stolen-car sales and robberies among the examples. However, that does not independently establish the video’s separate $20,000 carried-cash limit or every claimed rule for banks, stolen goods and property. Our distinction is practical: a statement about the purpose of money is different from a complete specification of the economy. We have not tested those systems.
Police AI: separate visible scenes from universal rules
The police video discusses identification clues, vehicle trackers, disguises and a six-star pursuit system. It also calls this the most advanced police AI in a GTA game. That last phrase is an evaluation, not a measured comparison we can verify. Rockstar’s official Extended Look is the primary preview to consult, but its exported captions mostly contain dialogue, not a rules manual. We therefore do not use captions alone to validate HUD symbols or promote the creator’s detailed interpretations into confirmed mechanics. A scene showing a chase can establish that the scene exists without establishing how every possible chase will behave.
Liberty City: background evidence does not confirm the opening
The opening-location video combines character history, trailer details and comparisons with earlier Rockstar games to propose a playable Liberty City introduction. Rockstar’s official Lucia biography does mention her and her mother’s days in Liberty City, while Jason’s biography mentions Army service and his later life in the Keys. Those are supported background details. They do not establish where the first playable mission takes place. At about 7:19, the video presents its own imagined opening sequence. Read that as a theory, not a leak authenticated by Rockstar. A city reference on clothing also cannot establish a playable map.
Three real images, with a limit on what each proves
We selected Vice City 11, Jason Duval 07 and Lucia Caminos 09 directly from Rockstar’s media collection, downloaded the linked images and visually inspected them. The waterfront image above and the two character images below retain their official names and source attribution. Rockstar labels the collection for downloading and sharing. These are promotional game images, not photographs, newly discovered leaks or captures from our own play session. Their provenance is clear; broader gameplay conclusions still require their own evidence.

Acknowledged leaks do not authenticate every repost
Gematsu and VGC reported Rockstar’s August 26, 2026 acknowledgment of leaked gameplay videos before its official Extended Look. That establishes a dated leak event, not a blanket confirmation of every later screenshot, map, supposed ending or feature list. We have not authenticated a new November leak in this review. Before sharing an image, trace it to its original publication and check whether the caption describes that same image. Old footage with a new caption is not automatically a new discovery.
What to check before launch
Use Rockstar’s current game page for the announced date and platforms, its media collection for the original images, and the specific interview or preview for a feature claim. A genuine promotional image can still be paired with an unsupported caption. The table’s unverified labels mean we could not establish those details from the checked sources; they are not findings that the claims are false. We will revise the evidence status when stronger information becomes available. The source list includes all three reviewed videos so readers can compare the original claims and timestamps themselves.
